Setting up the Environment for Adding Nodes to a HyperScale X Storage Pool

Setup or configure the settings needed to add additional nodes to an exiting HyperScale X storage pool.

Before You Begin

Check the Prerequisites needed to add an additional node to an existing HyperScale X storage pool.

Note

Do not change the default root password on the node. (You will be prompted for a new password, during the Add Node operation.)

Download the latest RPMs and populate the remote cache as described in Installing Operating System Updates.

Verify that the Backup Gateways in the existing storage pool are in the same Maintenance Release version as described in View the Backup Gateway Version.

If necessary, update the Backup Gateways, as described in Updating the Backup Gateway Software.
Set the Backup Gateways associated with the nodes in the Maintenance mode as described in Setting the Backup Gateway in Maintenance Mode.

Note

This will stop all activities in the HyperScale X cluster and as a result jobs will go into the Pending state.

Add the additional nodes needed to expand your storage pool.
