HyperScale X Appliance must be configured as a storage target to be used for backing up on-premises workloads.
Before You Begin
Ensure that you have the necessary tenant admin rights needed to configure the HyperScale X Appliance as a storage target. For more information, see Granting Tenant Admin Rights to the Nodes
Procedure

From the navigation pane, go to Storage > HyperScale X.
The HyperScale page appears.

In the upper-right area of the page, click Add.
The Add HyperScale page appears.

In the Name field, type a name for the HyperScale storage.

From the Nodes list, select the nodes that must be added to the storage pool.

The Nodes list includes the nodes that are not yet configured. If the nodes are not displayed, contact Customer Support.

A minimum of 3 nodes is required to configure the storage target.

Click Save.
The new storage is saved and listed in the HyperScale page.

From the Command Center navigation pane, go to Service Catalog.

In the File Server, or any other data source section, click Configure.
The How do you want to deploy your backup? page appears.

Select Backup via Gateway (for on-prem servers), and then click Next.
The Select backup gateway page appears.

Perform the following steps to install the backup gateway on HyperScale X Appliance.

Select Add a new backup gateway.

In the Enter the hostname (FQDN) for the newly installed server to be protected box, enter the fully qualified domain name (FQDN) of HyperScale X Appliance.

Click Submit.
After a few minutes, the Successfully installed the software message will be displayed.

Click Next.
The Configure application access page appears.

Perform the following steps to install backup software on a server that you want to backup:

Under Install software, click the Download button to download the software. Follow the steps described in one of the following to install the package on a server that you want to backup:

After installing the package, in the Enter the hostname (FQDN) for the newly installed server to be protected > File server hostname box, enter the fully qualified domain name (FQDN) of the server that you want to backup.

Click Submit.
After a few minutes, the Successfully installed the software message will be displayed.

Click Next.
The Configure a local backup target for quick restores page appears.

Select Select a previously configured local storage location, and then select the HyperScale storage that you created from the Local Storage Location list.

Click Next.
The Configure cloud backup for added protection page appears.

Choose one of the following options, to store data:

To maintain a copy of the data in the cloud, select Configure a cloud storage location, and then choose the appropriate Cloud Storage Service. Click Next.

To maintain you data in your premise. select Keep a copy only on-premises, and then click Next.
The How frequently do you want your data backed up, and how long do you need to retain the data? page appears.

Add the following details:

Click Create a new plan.

Choose an appropriate retention period for the plan.
-
Add a plan name in the New plan name box.
-
Click Create.
The We successfully created the plan message will be displayed.

What to Do Next

View the plan that you just created as follows:

From the navigation pane, go to Manage > Plans. The newly created plan will be listed in this page.
The plan page appears. The newly created plan will be included in the list.

Perform a test backup and restore using the HyperScale X Appliance that you added.
