Configuring Disk Storage

You can configure disk storage and define the backup locations which can be accessed by multiple cross-platform clients and backup gateways for writing the data.

Before You Begin

Install a Commvault Cloud backup gateway on an on-prem server. For more information, see On-Premises Deployment of a Commvault Cloud Backup Gateway.

Procedure

  1. From the navigation pane, go to Storage > Disk.

    The Disk page appears.

  2. In the upper-right corner of the page, click Add.

The Add disk dialog box appears.

  3. In the Name box, type a name for the disk storage.

  4. In the Backup locations section, click Add.

The Add Backup location dialog box appears.

    1. From the MediaAgent list, select the backup gateway that will write the data to the storage.

      Note

The list displays backup gateways classified as Active (backup gateways having license) and Inactive (backup gateways having backup gateway package installed, but license not consumed). The license is auto consumed if you select an inactive backup gateway.

    2. To set the disk access path, use one of the following options:

      • To use a local disk as the disk access path, click Local.

      • To use a network drive as the disk access path, click Network and then enter the User name and Password needed to access the backup location.

To use a pre-defined credential, move the Use saved credentials toggle key to the right, and then select the pre-defined credential from the Name list.

To add a new credential, click the + sign to create new credentials to access a network drive as described in Creating a Credential to Access a Network Drive.

    3. In the Backup location box, type the full path name to the storage location.

    4. Click Add.

  5. To enable deduplication on the storage, complete the following steps:

    1. Move the Use deduplication toggle key to the right.

    2. In the Deduplication DB location section, click Add.

The Add Deduplication DB location dialog box appears.

    3. From the MediaAgent list, select the backup gateway that will write the data to the DB location.

    4. In the Deduplication DB location box, type the full path name or browse and select the path to the DB location.
