You can use a guided setup to configure backups for Azure Blob Storage using the Commvault Cloud infrastructure (also called direct to cloud). Use this method with the object storage that can be accessed via a public endpoint. With this method, you don't need to configure your own backup gateways.
Important
-
Direct to cloud backups for Azure Blob Storage are supported only for certain regions. If you don't see your region when configuring backups for your Azure Blob Storage, contact your Commvault customer support manager (CSM).
-
The Commvault Cloud software supports Azure for public clouds only. Sovereign clouds, such as in Germany or China, are not supported. For more information, go to Azure Regions Decision Guide on the Microsoft documentation website.
Before You Begin
You must have credentials to log on to the Azure portal.
Procedure
-
From the Commvault Cloud navigation pane, go to Service Catalog.
The Service Catalog page appears.
-
On the Object Storage tile, click Configure.
The Select an Object Storage Application page appears.
-
Click Azure Blob, and then click NEXT.
The Select Backup Method page appears.
-
Select Back up using Commvault Cloud Infrastructure, and then click NEXT.
The image on this page shows that, with Commvault Cloud, you have multiple options for storing your backups in a way that meets your business objectives, including geo-redundant storage (GRS), which provides resiliency against location-specific outages:
-
Within a single region, you can store backups using either Air Gap Protect or your own Azure storage (BYOS), and in both cases, you can configure secondary storage in a different region to achieve GRS.
-
For cross-region storage (which achieves GRS by default), you can store backups in your own Azure storage (BYOS).
The Region page appears.
-
-
Select the region where the Azure Blob Storage is located, and then click NEXT.
Note
When you select a region on this page of the configuration wizard, the Commvault Cloud software filters the cloud storage and Azure resources that you can select on subsequent pages to those in the selected region. This filtering prevents traffic across regions, which can slow performance and increase costs.
The Configure Cloud Storage For Added Protection page appears.
-
For Storage location, select an existing cloud storage location or create a new storage location for the primary copy.
