Use the Custom Configuration to Add Azure Apps for Teams

Updated

If you don't want to use the Microsoft login information to authorize the Azure app, you can add Azure apps for Teams using the custom configuration option.

You can also use the custom configuration option to enable paid export APIs to back up Teams personal and channel chats. Chats are backed up per unique user.

Procedure

  1. From the navigation pane, go to Protect > Office 365.

The Office 365 Overview page appears.

  2. On the Apps tab, click the app.

The Overview page of the app appears.

  3. On the Configuration tab, in the Teams connection settings area, click Add azure app.

The Add Azure App tool appears.

  4. Select Custom configuration (Advanced), and then click Next.

If you did not manually register the Azure app with Azure AD, you can use the custom configuration toolkit, which automates the registration process.

  5. In the Application ID box, enter the Azure application ID.

  6. In the Application secret box, enter the Azure application secret.

  7. In the Azure directory ID box, enter the Azure directory ID.

For instructions about locating this information, see Create a Microsoft Entra application and service principal that can access resources in the Microsoft documentation.

  8. To use Microsoft Paid Export APIs to back up personal chats, group chats, meeting chats, and Channel messages, move the Enable this app to use paid Export APIs toggle key to the right.

    Caution

Enabling this feature incurs additional cost. For more information, in the Microsoft documentation, see Payment models and licensing requirements for Microsoft Teams APIs.

  9. Verify the requirements listed, and then select each of the following check boxes:

    • The Azure app is authorized from the Azure portal with all the required permissions.

    • The redirect URI of the Azure app is set to https://mNNN.metallic.io/commandcenter/processAzureAuthToken.do

    • Select the web option when setting up the redirect URL.

  10. Click Next.

    The Summary tab appears

  11. Click Close.
