Remote Office Appliance RO1200 can be setup as an on-premise storage device.
Before You Begin
-
Collect the necessary information using the Pre-Installation Checklist to plan and prepare for setting up the Remote Office Appliance RO1200.
Dynamic naming is required by the appliance for network communication. Ensure that the Fully Qualified Domain Name (FQDN) is configured for the appliance in the network.

Ensure that the appliance is properly racked and cabled, before powering-on the appliance.

Ensure that network connectivity is available and the necessary firewall authorizations have been enabled.
Also ensure that Internet connectivity is available for future software updates.

Ensure that you have the name of the region-specific Server / Gateway to which the appliance must be docked. This must be obtained from Commvault Cloud support.
If you have not yet obtained the region-specific Server / Gateway, log on to https://login.metallic.io/, and then click the Create a case link displayed at the bottom-right corner of the page.
The Create a Support Case page appears. Add the following information:

Add your contact information.

In the Brief description box, enter RO1200:Request for region-specific Server / Gateway & Tenant Rights Increase for Appliance.

In the Additional Details box, enter the following details:
-
The name of your Remote Office Appliance RO1200.
-
The FQDN of your Remote Office Appliance RO1200.
-
The region to which your appliance will be copying data.
-

Note
Verify and ensure that no USB drives are connected to the appliance during the installation.
Procedure
-
Turn on the appliance and press Ctrl+Alt+Del to login.

In the Administrator box, type appliance@cv1 and press Enter.
The Appliance Configuration wizard appears.
Note
If the Appliance Configuration wizard does not appear, navigate to C:\ApplianceInstall\Sapphire and then double-click SapphireApplication.exe.

Select Yes in the Do you intend to use this Appliance with Saas based services for Metallic? option, and click Next.

Click the License Agreement and review the Commvault End User License Agreement and then click I Agree.
The Select Network Interfaces page appears.

Select one or more ports to configure the network settings for data, and then click Next.
Note
The Select Network Interface page displays all the network ports that have an active connection.
The Configure Network Interface page appears. (If you selected more than one network port, the Configure Network Interface page will be displayed multiple times until all the network ports have the necessary details.)

Depending on the network infrastructure in your environment, choose one of the following options:

If you have a DHCP server to automatically assign IP addresses and detect the DNS server, select the Obtain IPV4 address automatically and the Obtain DNS server address automatically options and then click Next.

In the absence of a DHCP server, clear the Obtain IPV4 address automatically and the Obtain DNS server address automatically options, and enter the following information:

Under Use the following IPv4 address, type the IPv4 address, Subnet mask and Default Gateway that must be used for the appliance.

Under Use the following DNS server address, type the name of the Preferred DNS server and Alternate DNS server, and click Next.
The Configure Host Name and Domain Settings page appears.

Choose one of the following options:

To assign a new host name, in the New Host Name box, enter a unique name to identify the appliance in the network.
-
To configure the appliance in an existing domain, select the Add this appliance to a domain check box.
Type the appropriate domain credentials in the Domain name, Domain user name and Domain user password boxes.
Note
If you do not join an existing domain, the appliance remains in the Workgroup.
A message prompting you to restart your computer appears.

Click Yes to continue. (Clicking No will proceed with the installation without changing the host name and/or the domain.)
Note
It is recommended to reboot the computer to avoid network related issues later in the installation.
A confirmation prompt appears.

Click OK to restart the computer.
After the reboot, login using the administrator credentials appliance@cv1. (Same as step 2.)
The Appliance Configuration wizard will resume automatically.
Note
If the wizard does not start automatically, navigate to C:\ApplianceInstall\Sapphire and then double-click SapphireApplication.exe.

The Configure Host Name and Domain Settings page appears.

In the Enter a valid Server/Gateway name box, enter the region-specific Server / Gateway emailed to you by Commvault Cloud support team.
Note
If you have not yet obtained the region-specific Server / Gateway, log on to https://login.metallic.io/, and then click the Create a case link displayed at the bottom-right corner of the page.

Under Select the way you want to authenticate with the server, choose on of the following options, and click Next.

If your environment uses an authcode for installation, choose Authcode and then enter the code in the Authorization code box.
Authorization code can be viewed as follows:

Go to https://login.metallic.io/ and log on.
The Service Catalog page appears.

From the navigation pane, go to Manage > Company.
The company page appears.
The authorization code is displayed against the Requires authcode for installation option.

If your environment uses Commvault Cloud Credentials, Choose Enter Credentials and then enter your Commvault Cloud tenant admin credentials in the Username and Password boxes.

Click Configure.
The configuration process is started and takes a few minutes to complete. (8 to 10 minutes approximately.)
The Automatic Disk Group Configuration prompt appears.

Click Yes to confirm the library configuration. You must click Yes when you setup the appliance for the first time.

The library is configured and the Automatic Disk Group Configuration prompt displays the result.
The Configure software page appears.

Click Finish.
What to Do Next
-
Respond back to the initially created support ticket titled RO1200:Request for region-specific Server / Gateway & Tenant Rights Increase for Appliance and inform Customer Support to provide the tenant rights increase for the appliance.

Once the tenant rights are increased, Configure the Remote Office Appliance RO1200 as a Storage Target.
