Perform a Test Backup and Restore for Azure MySQL Instance

To verify that Azure MySQL instance is set up correctly, perform a test backup and restore.

Back Up the Instance

  1. From the navigation pane, go to Protect > Databases.

    The database Overview page appears.

  2. Go to the Instances tab.

  3. In the row for the instance, click the action button, and then click Backup. Alternatively, click the instance you want to backup, and then in the upper-right area of the window, click Backup.

    The Backup dialog box appears.

  4. Select a subclient to back up, and then click Select.

    The Backup options dialog box appears.

  5. Select a Backup level.

  6. Click Submit.

Restore the Database

  1. From the navigation pane, go to Protect > Databases.

    The Instances page appears.

  2. In the row for the instance, click the action button, and then click Restore.

    The Backup content dialog box appears.

  3. Select the backup, and then click Restore.

    The Restore options dialog box appears.

  4. Click Submit.

  5. From the navigation pane, go to Protect > Databases.

    The database Overview page appears.

  6. Go to Instances tab.

  7. In the row for the instance, click the action button action_button, and then click Restore. Alternatively, click the instance you want to backup, and then in the Recovery points tile, click Restore.

    The Backup Content page appears.

  8. Select the backup content as per requirement, and then click Restore.

    The Restore options dialog box appears.

  9. You can perform In place or Out of place restore as per the requirement.

  10. Click Submit.
