You can move the index cache directory on a backup gateway.
Before You Begin
Verify that the hardware requirements are met for the new index cache directory:

For on-premises backup gateways, see System Requirements for On-Premises Backup Gateways.

For cloud backup gateway, see Cloud Backup Gateways.
Procedure

From the navigation pane, go to Manage > Infrastructure > MediaAgents.
The Backup Gateways page appears.

Click the backup gateway to move the index cache directory for.
The backup gateway page appears.

On the Configuration tab, in the Index cache section, click the edit button
.The Edit index cache properties dialog box appears.

For Index cache path, enter the new path.

Click Save.
Results

The software copies the contents of the original index cache directory to the new index cache directory, and then writes all subsequent index entries to the new directory.

The software does not delete the contents of the original index cache directory. To make the disk space available, you can manually delete the original index cache directory and its contents.
