Getting Started with Amazon FSx for NetApp ONTAP

Verify that your environment meets the system requirements, complete the file server guided setup, and then perform a test backup and restore.

Procedure

  1. Verify that your access node meets the hardware specifications to back up the CIFS shares and NFS exports.

  2. If you want to use optimized scanning for faster incremental backups, verify that your environment meets the system requirements.

  3. To access the Amazon FSx for NetApp ONTAP file storage via CIFS, the access node requires the Windows File System software. Verify that your access node meets the system requirements for the Windows access nodes.

  4. To access the Amazon FSx for NetApp ONTAP file storage via NFS, the access node requires the Linux File System software. Verify that your access node meets meets the system requirements for the Linux access nodes.

    • Samba client and cifs-utils packages must be installed on the Linux access nodes if they are protecting CIFS shares.

    • You can back up NFS exports through HyperScale X access nodes as well.

  5. Amazon FSx for NetApp ONTAP is a NetApp OEM partner and uses NetApp Snap engine. Add a NetApp file server to protect your Amazon FSx for NetApp ONTAP file storage.

  6. Perform a test backup and restore.
