Restore Amazon FSx for NetApp ONTAP Data

You can restore Amazon FSx for NetApp ONTAP CIFS and NFS subclients to the original location (in place) or to a different location (out of place).

Procedure

  1. From the navigation pane, go to Protect > Files.

    The Overview page appears.

  2. Go to the Files tab, and then click the file server.

    The file server page appears.

  3. To restore CIFS shares, go to the Protocols tile, and then click CIFS.

    The CIFS Overview page appears.

To restore NFS exports, go to the Protocols tile, and then click NFS.

    The NFS Overview page appears.

  4. On the Subclients tab, in the row for the subclient that you want to restore, click the action button action_button, and then click Restore.

    The Backup content page appears.

  5. Select the content to restore:

    • To restore the contents of the entire subclient, select the check box next to Name.

    • To restore particular files, expand the folder and then select the files.

  6. Click Restore.

The Restore options dialog box appears.

  7. From the Destination list, select the computer to which the data is to be restored.

    Note

If you have backed up CIFS exports using a Linux access node and you want to restore Access Control Lists (ACLs), the destination client must also be of the OS type Linux. Selecting a Windows destination client will only restore the data, not the ACLs.

  8. Specify the restore location:

    • To restore to the original backup location (in place), select the Restore to original folder check box.

    • To restore to a new location (out of place), clear the Restore to original folder check box, and then in the Destination Path box, enter the full path to the destination folder.

  9. For CIFS backups: If the destination path is a UNC Path, then enable the Impersonate user slider, and then enter the user name and password required to access the UNC path.

  10. Click Submit.
