You can replicate a VM Group by creating a replication target and replication group. VMs are backed up and replicated according to the settings in the replication group.
You can replicate from Azure streaming backups or VMware streaming backups to Azure hypervisor destination:
For more information, see Support Matrix.
When you configure replication for a VM group, you can add VMs to an existing replication group if one exists, or you can create a new replication group.
Before You Begin
-
Verify that you have a source hypervisor and a destination hypervisor for the replication group.
-
Review the options for adding source and destination hypervisors, creating a replication target, and configuring a replication group:
-
Create a replication target for the destination site.
-
For traditional replication, virtual machines must have been backed up at least once to be added to a replication group.
This requirement does not apply for snapshot replication.
Procedure
-
From the Command Center navigation pane, go to Protect > Virtualization.
The Virtual machines page appears.
-
On the VM groups tab, in the row for the VM group, click the action button
, and then click Configure recovery.
The Add a Replication group page appears.
-
From the Recovery site hypervisor vendor list, select the vendor for the recovery site hypervisor, and then click Next.
The General page of the Add Replication Group wizard appears.
-
On the General page, enter the replication group name, and then click Next.
-
On the Content page, add virtual machines that you want to replicate and failover during disaster, and then click Next.
-
On the Storage page, select the copy for recovery, and then click Next.
-
On the Recovery Options page, enter the target and access node, and then click Next.
-
The pages and settings that appear vary depending on the vendor that you selected for recovery site hypervisor. If you want to provide optional settings , continue to Pre and Post Scripts, Override Settings, Test Failover Options, Advanced Options, and Summary pages.
-
On the Summary page, review the settings you configured, and then click Submit.
Results
-
The configuration tool creates a replication schedule and a replication group that includes the selected source VMs.
-
The properties page for a replication group includes a Replication monitor that you can use to monitor the replication status and to perform operations.
