When configuring replication of virtual machines, consider the following:
-
Group VMs by applications: Group VMs that form an application into a single replication group so that VMs are replicated and recovered simultaneously.
-
Group VMs by tiers of importance: Group VMs into tiers based on their criticality. For example, create separate replication groups for mission-critical applications, business-critical applications, business operational applications, and administrative applications.
Note
If a VM is part of both a VM group and a replication group, then the backup job from the VM group fails. This ensures a clean, conflict-free replication process by allowing only replication groups to protect the VM.
