Backing Up an Instance for SAP HANA

You can perform a full, incremental, or differential backup of a SAP HANA instance.

Before You Begin

The database must be online and all services must be running.

Procedure

  1. From the navigation pane, go to Protect > Databases.

    The database overview page appears.

  2. Go to Instances tab.

    The instance table appears.

  3. In the row for the instance that you want to backup, click the action button action_button, and then select Backup.

    Alternatively, click the instance that you want to back up. In the upper-right corner of the page, click Backup.

    The Backup dialog box appears.

  4. Select the subclient that you want to back up, and then click SELECT.

    The Backup options dialog box appears.

  5. For Backup level, select the type of backup to perform:

    • Full: The Commvault Cloud software performs the backup operation on the subclient that is configured for the entire database.

    • Incremental: The Commvault Cloud performs the backup operation on the subclient that contains only data that is new or has changed since the last backup

    • Differential: The Commvault Cloud performs the backup operation on the subclient that contains only data that is new or has changed since the Full last backup.

  6. In the Backup prefix box, enter a prefix to identify the backup.

  7. Click SUBMIT.
