Adding a Backup Gateway for Azure Blob Storage

You can add a backup gateway to protect your Azure Blob Storage.

Procedure

  1. Click +.

    The Add new backup gateway window appears.

  2. Select the auth code for the company, copy it, and save it so you can enter it later in the AuthCode field on the Configuration tab.

  3. Click DEPLOY TO AZURE.

    The Azure portal for deployment appears with a custom ARM template.

  4. On the Basics tab, populate the following information:

    • Subscription: Select a subscription.

    • Resource group region: Select a resource group region or create a new one.

    • Virtual Machine name: Enter the name of the virtual machine.

    • VM Region: Select the VM region.

    • Username: Enter the admin username for the machine.

    • Password and Confirm password: Enter the password.

  5. On the Virtual Machine Settings tab, populate the following information:

    • For Windows, complete the following:

      • OS Version: Select an OS version.

      • Backup data size: Select a backup data size.

    • For Linux, complete the following:

      • OS Version: Select an OS version.

      • Disk Type: Select the type of the disk.

      • Backup data type (Capacity or Objects): Select the type of the backup data, and then do one of the following:

    • Virtual Network: Select a virtual network for the VM.

    • Subnet: Select a subnet.

    • User assigned managed identity: Add user assigned managed identities.

  6. On the Configuration tab, in the the AuthCode field, enter the auth code you copied from the Add new backup gateway window.

  7. Click Review + create.

    The system validates your entries and displays the information you populated.

  8. On the Review + create tab, review the template information, and then click Create.

  9. Go to your Commvault Cloud account window and close the Add new backup gateway dialog box.
