System Requirements for AIX File Systems

Verify that your environment meets the system requirements for the AIX file system.

Operating System

Important

  • Use the most recent version of the operating system that is listed. The Commvault Cloud software fully supports the most recent version of an operating system, until the vendor ends support. More recent versions of the Commvault Cloud software might not install on operating systems that are not supported by the vendor anymore. For information about the support lifecycle of an operating system, contact the vendor.

  • Data protection on Logical Partitioning (LPAR) and Workload Partitioning (WPAR) is supported.

  • Enhanced Journal File System (JFS2)

  • General Parallel File System (GPFS)

  • Journal File System (JFS)

  • Oracle ASM Cluster File System (Oracle ACFS)

  • VERITAS File System (VxFS)

Volume Managers

  • Veritas Volume Manager (VxVM) 5.0 or higher

  • Logical Volume Manager (LVM)

Clustering

If clustering is supported by the operating system, you can install the software on a cluster. For information about supported cluster types, see Cluster File Servers.

Memory (RAM)

  • 2 GB or more

  • An additional 1.5 GB for every 500,000 folders in the backup data

IBM Fileset Dependency

Verify that the devices.common.IBM.fc.hba-api fileset exists on the AIX computer.

Schedule Jobs Using a Client Computer's Time Zone

The client computer has to be in one of the standard time zones recognized by the CommServe server. Otherwise, the CommServe server is not updated with the client computer's time zone and the jobs scheduled using the client computer's time zone might not run.
