System Requirements for Active Directory Forest Recovery

Verify that the domain controllers you install the Commvault Cloud software on meet the following system requirements.

Commvault Agent Instance Must Be the First Instance

The Commvault Cloud agent that is used for forest recovery on all domain controllers must be the first instance of the agent (for example, Instance001) on that server. Otherwise, Virtualize Me restores fail.

If there is an agent installed on the domain controller from another instance of Commvault Cloud, you must uninstall it before installing the agent that will back up the domain controllers for forest recovery.

Servers That Are Promoted to Domain Controllers

Domain controllers you select the Promote server to domain controller option for must meet the following requirements:

  • The servers must not be domain-joined servers, because they are promoted to domain controllers during recovery.

  • The Active Directory Agent must be manually installed on the servers.

File System Agent Requirements

The file system agent is automatically installed during the installation of this software, if it is not already installed. For more information, see Files.
