If file indexing is enabled for a VM group, you can search the indexed backups of that VM group for files and folders.
Supported

You can search, download, and restore files and folders from the most recent backup of the VM group.

You can download files up to 5 GB. For larger files, perform a restore operation.

You can use Unix-style regular expressions in your search strings.
Not Supported

Search, download, and restore is not supported for backups on tape.

Search, download, and restore from older backups and of older versions of files is not supported.
Excluded Folders
The following folders on the default drive (for example, C:) are excluded from search results. If the folders are located on a non-default drive (for example, E:), then they are included in search results.

From the Command Center navigation pane, go to Protect > Virtualization.
The Overview page appears.

On the Virtual machines tab, click a VM that you have an indexed backup of.
The VM page appears.

In the search box in the upper-right area of the page, enter a search string, and then press Enter.
The Search page displays search results. The left side of the page displays File Type and Size facets that you can use to filter the search results. You can sort results by clicking on column headings.

To select options that modify the search as follows, click the search box.

Filename: Search for files that include the search string in the file name.

File Type: Select a file type, such as audio or executable.

Modified: Select a time period when the file was most recectly modifed, such as today or last month.

Include Folders: Select this option to include folders in the search results.

Click Search to repeat the search with the modified criteria.

Select an item in the search results and then click one of the following options:

Restore: Restore files using one of the following procedures.

Download: Download the selected files to the local computer.

If the download operation initiated a job, then it is listed on the Recent downloads page in the Command Center.

You will receive an email notification when the download operation is complete, with a link to the Recent downloads page in the Command Center.
