You can restore a SharePoint Online Project Web App (PWA) to their original location.
Before You Begin

Ensure that a PWA site exists at the source location with the same name as the PWA that is getting restored.

If time sheet is configured, ensure that the same fiscal period exists at the source Project Web App.

For a PWA that is configured with Active Directory Enterprise Resource Pool Synchronization, perform a save and synchronize operation to ensure that the users are added.

In PWA Settings, click Timesheet Managers, and add the correct users.
Procedure

From the navigation pane, go to Protect > Office 365.
The Office 365 Overview page appears.

On the Apps tab, click the app.
The Overview page of the app appears.

On the Sites tab, select the Project Online site that contains the PWA to restore, and then click Restore > Restore sites.
The Restore options tool appears.

On the Destination tab, leave SharePoint Online and Restore the data to its original location selected, and then click Next.
The Options tab appears.

Beside If the document exists, specify what to do with existing items:

To not overwrite existing items, select Skip.

To overwrite existing items, select Unconditionally overwrite.

Configure any of the additional options, and then click Next:

To restore deleted items, select Include deleted items.

To restore only the ACLs, select Restore ACLs only.

To restore the workflow definitions and alerts, select Restore workflow definition and alerts only.

To restore only the latest version of the site, select Restore latest version only.

To skip lookup metadata for items being restored, select Skip lookup metadata.
The Review tab appears.

Review your selections, and then click Submit.
The Summary tab appears.

Click Close.
