Performing a Bare Metal Recovery Using ReaR

Perform a bare metal recovery to another computer based on the PPC architecture.

Procedure

1. Restore the ReaR rescue ISO located in the /tmp/CVrearRescue.iso directory, from the data backup.

2. Boot the client computer using the ISO image.

3. In the console interface, select Recover, and then press Enter.

4. From the command line, run the command to perform a 1-Touch restore operation:

   #rear recover
       
   

5. When prompted, enter the CommServe host username and password.

6. If you want to recover to a specific point in time, enter the timestamp in UTC format. Otherwise, press Enter.

   The data files and system files are restored to the /mnt/local directory.

7. Reboot the computer.
