Getting Started with Microsoft SQL Server

Complete the necessary setup for backing up Microsoft SQL Server databases.

Procedure

1. Verify that your environment meets the system requirements for SQL Server databases.

2. Complete the database guided setup for SQL Server using any one of the following options:

   • Microsoft Azure: Configure SQL Server database backups on Azure Compute.

   • Amazon Web Services: Configure SQL Server database backups on AWS EC2 instance.

   • Oracle Cloud Infrastructure: Configure SQL Server database backups on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI).

   • Database running on-premises: Configure SQL Server database backups with a backup gateway or Commvault Cloud Infrastructure.

     • Backup Gateway: Configure backups for SQL Server using local and cloud storage copies with a backup gateway. Use this method when SQL Server databases cannot be accessed using a public endpoint.

     • Commvault Cloud Infrastructure: Configure SQL server database backups using the Commvault Cloud infrastructure. Use this method when Azure SQL server databases can be accessed using a public endpoint.

3. Perform a test backup and restore.
