Planning for the protection of Amazon DocumentDB includes verifying that your environment meets the system requirements, completing the Databases guided setup, configuring entities, and then performing a test backup and a restore.
Procedure
-
Verify the following about your environment:
-
To add the first database in your Metallic console environment, use the Databases guided setup. In the Metallic console, go to Guided setup > Databases.
To complete the guided setup, you need the following information:
-
The server name
-
The host name
-
The credentials that you use to access the server
-
The packages that you want to install, such as Virtual Server
Note
If you are configuring a database that uses a pseudoclient, you must manually install the packages on the physical servers before you use the guided setup.
-
-
Add a Windows or Linux file server as an access node with the Virtual Server package installed.
For information on supported platforms for the access node, see System Requirements for Amazon DocumentDB.
-
Create a new cloud database instance for Amazon DocumentDB using an existing cloud account or a new cloud account.
For more information, see Creating a Cloud Database Instance for Amazon DocumentDB.
-
Perform Your First Backup and Restore.
-
Your first full backup is automatically scheduled based on the assigned backup plan. To perform a manual backup, see Backing Up a DocumentDB Cluster Group.
-
After the backup operation is complete, perform a restore. For more information, see Restoring a DocumentDB Cluster.
