Enabling Point in Time Restore for Amazon RDS Instances

Point in time restore of RDS databases is based on the Commvault Cloud orchestration of RDS automated backups. For more information about RDS automated backups, go to the AWS documentation.

Procedure

  1. From the navigation pane, go to Protect > Databases.

    The Overview page appears.

  2. On the Instances tab, click the AWS RDS instance.

    The instance overview page appears.

  3. On the Configuration tab, in the Point in time restore settings tile, do the following:

    1. Move the Enable point in time restore toggle key to the right.

    2. In the Retention period area, click Edit edit button outline grey/gray pencil, then update the number of days, and then click SUBMIT.

    3. To apply the point in time restore options immediately, move the Apply Immediately toggle key to the right.

    4. To set a custom backup window for automated backups, do the following:

      1. In the Preferred Backup Window area, click Edit edit button outline grey/gray pencil.

      2. Select Preferred Backup Window and then select time range for the backups.

      3. Click SUBMIT.

Note

When you back up the point in time restore enabled instance, the retention period will be updated in the AWS console.
