Discovering Databases Manually or Automatically

Applies to: DB2, MySQL, Oracle, Oracle RAC, PostgreSQL

You can manually run database discovery if you add a database and want it discovered immediately. You can also enable automatic database instance discovery for a database type.

By default, after the Commvault Cloud agent is installed, database instances are automatically discovered and automatic discovery then runs every 24 hours.

Procedure

1. From the navigation pane, go to Protect > Databases.

   The database overview page appears.

2. In the upper-right area of the page, click the action button , and then select Discover instances.

   The Discover instances page appears.

3. From the Database engine list, select the type of database.

4. To discover database instances manually on a server, select the server from the Server name list.

5. To configure the automatic discovery of database instances for the selected database engine, move the Enable automatic instance discovery toggle to the right and click OK.

6. To discover database instances manually, click DISCOVER NOW.
