Creating a Disk Storage Pool for HyperScale Edge

Use the following procedure, to create a HyperScale Edge disk storage pool manually.

Note

When you use a stand-alone web server, the storage pool is not created automatically during the HyperScale Edge installation. In such cases, you must create the storage pool manually from the Metallic console.

Before You Begin

Procedure

  1. Open the Metallic console. See Opening the Metallic console for more information.

  2. From the navigation pane on the Metallic console, go to Storage > Disk.

    The Disk page appears.

  3. Click Add.

    The Add disk storage page appears.

  4. In the Name box, type a name for the disk storage.

  5. In the Backup locations section, click Add.

    The Add Backup location dialog box appears.

    1. From the MediaAgent list, select the HyperScale Edge node that will write the data to the storage.

      Note

      The list displays Backup Gateways classified as Active (Backup Gateways having license) and Inactive (Backup Gateways having Backup Gateway package installed, but license not consumed). The license is auto consumed if you select an inactive Backup Gateway.

    2. To set the disk access path, in the Backup location box, type hsxone/disk1.

    3. Click Add.

  6. To enable deduplication on the storage, complete the following steps:

    1. Move the Use deduplication toggle key to the right.

    2. In the Deduplication DB location section, click Add.

      The Add Deduplication DB location dialog box appears.

    3. From the MediaAgent list, select the HyperScale Edge node that will write the data to the DB location.

    4. In the Deduplication DB location box, type ws/ddb.

    5. Click Add.

  7. Click Save.

Result

A storage pool will be created. To view the storage pool, click Storage from the navigation pane.
