You can enable and configure network bandwidth throttling for servers (including Backup Gateways) and server groups.
Note
-
When network bandwidth throttling is set at the server group level, the throttling is applied on a one-to-one basis between individual servers and/or Backup Gateways within the server group. For example, if you have network bandwidth throttling set to 1000 Kbps for two separate server groups that send data to each another, and there are three separate jobs than run between individual servers in those groups, then each job will be allowed to use up to 1000 Kbps of network bandwidth. If you want to throttle network bandwidth for entire server groups (for example, so that the three separate jobs as described above use a total of 1000 Kbps of network bandwidth), you need to first set up a network gateway between the server groups, and then set network bandwidth throttling on the network gateway towards both groups.
-
If you open additional ports, throttling will not work.
Procedure
Use the following steps to configure network bandwidth throttling at the server level. The steps are the same to configure throttling at the server group level.
-
From the navigation pane, go to Manage > Servers.
-
Select the server on which you want to configure network throttling.
-
On the Configuration tab, click the pencil button
next to the Network Throttling tile.
A window appears.
-
For the Configure Throttle Rules for <Server>, you will see two options:
-
No throttle: Select this option to turn throttling off.
-
Throttle selective traffic: Select this option to customize throttle rules for specific remote servers.
-
-
To continue configuring throttle rules, select Throttle with Remote Servers. Click the plus button
to proceed.
-
From the list of Remote Servers and Server Groups, select the required entities for which you want the source server to throttle bandwidth.
-
Select one of the following options:
-
Use Absolute Throttling: Select this option to specify Send bandwidth and/or Receive bandwidth (measured in Mbps). Sending and receiving will be limited to those speeds, regardless of available bandwidth.
-
Use Relative Throttling: Use this option to enter a threshold and a throttling percentage. Enter these parameters as follows:
-
To set a sending rate threshold, enter the Send threshold (Mbps). Then, in Throttle at (%), enter a percentage to reduce the sending rate (if that sending rate threshold is exceeded).
-
To set a receiving rate threshold, enter the Receive threshold (Mbps). Then, in Throttle at (%), enter a percentage to reduce the receiving rate (if that receiving rate threshold is exceeded).
-
-
-
To select days on which throttle rules should be applied (from Monday to Sunday), use the list under Select days.
-
To throttle bandwidth for an entire day, select the Whole day toggle. You can also deselect the toggle and then enter the Start time and End time.
-
Click Save to save the above rule.
-
To add another throttle rule to the same set of remote servers, click the actions button and then select Add rule.
-
To update the list of remote servers and server groups, click the actions button and then select the Edit servers list.
-
To delete a throttle rule, click on the actions button and then select Delete.
-
Use the pencil button or the X button to edit or delete throttle rules.
-
Click Save to save the throttling rules.
Note
Note: Configured throttle rules will be automatically applied to the server or server group.
