To protect Amazon EC2 instances, configure backups and other settings in Commvault Cloud.
Commvault Terminology
The following terms are helpful to understand when configuring protection for Amazon EC2 instances:
-
Backup gateway (also called access node): Connects with, discovers, backs up, and restores your data source.
-
Hypervisor: Represents an AWS account. In a multi-account environment, data protection operations and resources can be shared (for example, from a shared services account hypervisor to member account hypervisors).
-
VM group: Uses auto-discovery rules and other methods to specify a set of Amazon EC2 instances that are backed up together using the same backup settings.
