Configuration for Google Cloud

To protect Google Cloud (GC) instances, configure backups and other settings in Commvault Cloud.

Commvault Terminology

The following terms are helpful to understand when configuring protection for Google Cloud (GC) instance:

  • Backup gateway (also called access node): Connects with, discovers, backs up, and restores your data source.

  • Hypervisor: Represents a Google Cloud account. In a multi-account environment, data protection operations and resources can be shared (for example, from a shared services account hypervisor to member account hypervisors).

  • VM group: Uses auto-discovery rules and other methods to specify a set of Google Cloud (GC) instances that are backed up together using the same backup settings.
