Adding an Oracle Cloud Infrastructure Object Storage Repository

To back up an Oracle Cloud Infrastructure object storage repository, add the repository.

Procedure

  1. From the navigation pane, go to Protect > Object storage.

    The Object storage page appears.

  2. In the upper-right area of the page, click Add object storage.

    The Add object storage dialog box appears.

  3. Click OCI Object Storage.

  4. Click Next.

  5. Complete the following steps for the guided setup as they appear in Commvault Cloud and OCI.

  1. Click Next.

    The Configure IAM Policy page appears.

  1. Click Deploy to Oracle Cloud.

    The OCI website opens. The Create Stack page appears.

  1. Select I have reviewed and accept the Oracle terms of use.

    The Resource Manager template creates an IAM user in the IAM group. Then, it creates and assigns an IAM policy to the group.

  2. In the Name box, enter a name.

  3. In the Create in compartment drop-down list, select a compartment.

  4. Click Next.

  1. Click Next.

  1. Click Create.

  2. If you don't already have an API key, do the following:

    • In OCI, search MetallicServiceAccount with the search bar at the top of the page.

    • Select Add API key > Download private key, and then Download public key.

    • Click Add.

    • Click Copy, and then click Close.

  3. If the API Key exists:

    • Under the API key section, click the button with three dots.

    • Copy the information for the Credential Name, Tenancy OCID, User OCID, and Fingerprint.

Configure IAM Policy

  • If you already have OCI credentials configured, select the credentials from the Select a saved credential drop-down menu.

  • If you don't already have a configuration, complete the following:

  • Click +.

    The Add credential dialog box appears.

  • To add credentials, complete the following:

  • In Credential name, enter a descriptive name for the credential.

  • In Tenancy OCID, enter the OCID for the tenant.

  • In User OCID, enter the OCID for the user for the hypervisor.

  • In Fingerprint, enter the fingerprint.

  • In the Private key box, upload the private key file.

  • In Private key password, enter a unique password.

  • In Description, enter a description of the credential.

  • Click Save.

  • Click Next.

  1. From the Select a region list, select the region where the OCI object storage service exists.

  2. Click Next.

Select access node

  1. Do one of the following:

  2. If a backup gateway exists:

    • Under the access node drop-down menu, select one or more existing gateways or the existing gateway group.

      Note

      The gateways must be of similar operating system type. To use a gateway group, the region must already be configured on the gateway group. All gateways in the gateway group must be reachable through network routes.

  3. If a backup gateway does not exist:

    • To add a backup gateway, click +.

    • From the Select a platform list, select the operating system for the access node .

      Note

      For a Windows access node, the new password will be available in stack job outputs in the OCI console.

    • Under the Storage Region drop-down menu select a region.

    • To deploy the access node to Oracle cloud in the region and platform that you selected, under the Launch Oracle Resource Manager, click Generate Link.
      The OCI website opens. The Stacks page appears.

  1. Select I have reviewed and accepted the Oracle Terms of Use.

  2. In the Name box, enter a name.

  3. In the Create in compartment drop-down menu, select the compartment for the gateway instances.

  4. Click Next.

  5. In the Availability Domain drop-down menu, select a domain.

  6. For Linux, select the SSH key files.

  7. In the VCN and Subnet section, complete the following:

    • In the Compartment for VCN/Subnet drop-down menu, select a compartment for VCN/subnet.

    • In the Virtual Cloud Network (VCN) drop-down menu, select a virtual cloud network.

    • In the Subnet drop-down menu, select a subnet.

    • In the Network Security Group section, select a compartment in the Compartment for NSG drop-down menu.

  8. Click Next.

    It may take a few minutes to create a backup gateway instance.

Configure Cloud Backup Storage

  • If primary storage exists and you do not want secondary storage, click Next.

  • If primary storage does not exist:

    • In the Storage Account drop-down menu, select a storage account.

    • (Optional) To configure secondary backup storage, move Secondary Copy toggle key to the right.

    • (Optional) To bring your own storage (primary or secondary), under Storage location, click +, and then complete the following in the Add cloud storage dialog box:

  • In the Type drop-down menu, select a cloud storage type.

    • Click Save.

    • Click Next.

Select Plan

  1. On the Select Plan page, complete the following:

  2. If a backup plan exists, select it under the Use an existing backup plan dialog box.

  3. If a backup plan does not exist:

    • Select Create a new plan.

    • Select a backup plan.

  4. Click Next.

  1. In the Name box, enter a name for object storage.

  2. Click Next.

Select Compartment

  1. Do one of the following:

    • Search for the compartment and select it.

    • Expand the root compartment and navigate to the required compartment.

      Note

      Select the compartment that you selected during stack creation.

  2. To include sub-compartments, select the Include sub-compartments check box.

Select Backup Content

  1. In the Backup content box, enter the path to the content to include in the content group.

  2. To specify exclusions to the backup content, move the Specify exclusion toggle key to the right.

  3. Click Next.

  • Click Finish.
