Adding a Mailbox to the Exchange Online App

You can manually add a mailbox to Exchange Online backup content. Manually added mailboxes will appear on both the Content tab and the Mailboxes tab for the Exchange Online app.

Note

  • To limit the access of the Azure app to only specific Exchange Online mailboxes, see Limiting application permissions to specific Exchange Online mailboxes.

  • You must create a separate archiving policy for mailboxes that are placed in an In-Place Hold or a Litigation Hold, and then select from the following options:

    • Deletions: This subfolder contains all items deleted from the Deleted Items folder.

    • Versions: If In-Place Hold, Litigation Hold, or an Office 365 retention policy is enabled, this subfolder contains the original copy of the item and also if the item is modified multiple times, a copy of the item before modification is saved.

    • Purges: If either Litigation Hold or single item recovery is enabled, this subfolder contains all items that are hard deleted.

    • DiscoveryHolds: If In-Place Hold is enabled or if an Office 365 retention policy is assigned to the mailbox, this subfolder contains all items that meet the hold query parameters and are hard deleted.

Procedure

  1. From the navigation pane, go to Protect > Office 365.

    The Office 365 Overview page appears.

  2. On the Apps tab, click the app.

    The Overview page of the app appears.

  3. On the Content tab, in the upper-right area of the page click Add.

    The Configure Content page appears.

  4. Select Add content to backup, and then click Next.

    The Add Content tool appears.

  5. Under Standard, select Mailboxes, and then click Next.

    The Content tab appears.

  6. In the list, select the mailboxes that you want to back up, and then click Next.

    The Office 365 Plan tab appears.

  7. From the Office 365 plan list, select the plan to use for the AD groups, and then click Next.

    The Summary tab appears.

  8. Click Submit.
