Adding a Cloud Storage for an AWS RDS Export-Based Backup Plan

You can bring your own cloud storage to configure AWS RDS export-based backups.

Procedure

  1. Beside Storage, click the add button add/plus button - gray - no border, and then select Cloud.

    The Add cloud storage dialog box appears.

  2. In the Name box, enter a descriptive name for the cloud storage.

  3. For Storage class, select the storage class for the type of access that you want to have for the data.

  4. From the Region list, select the storage region.

  5. For Service host, leave the default value.

  6. For MediaAgent, leave Automatic (the default value) selected, or select a specific MediaAgent that will write the data to the storage.

    If Automatic is selected, Commvault Cloud uses the hosted infrastructure MediaAgents present in the region to configure the storage.

  7. For Authentication, select the type of authentication to use.

  8. For Credentials, select existing credentials or create a new credential. This is not applicable for IAM role.

    To add new credentials, follow these steps:

    1. Click + beside the Credential list.

      The Add credential dialog box appears.

    2. Based on the Authentication type, enter the following information:

      Access and secret keys
      • In the Credential name box, enter the descriptive name for the credential.

      • In the Access key ID box, enter the access key ID of the cloud account.

      • In the Secret access key box, enter the secret access key of the cloud account.

      • In the Description box, enter a brief description for the credential.

      STS assume role
      • In the Credential name box, enter the descriptive name for the credential.

      • In the Access key ID box, enter the access key ID of the cloud account.

      • In the Secret access key box, enter the secret access key of the cloud account.

      • In the Role ARN box, enter the ARN of the specified IAM role.

      • In the Description box, enter a brief description for the credential.

      STS assume role with IAM policy
      • In the Credential name box, enter the descriptive name for the credential.

      • In the Role ARN box, enter the ARN of the specified IAM role.

      • In the External ID box, enter the external ID that is specified in the trust policy of your AWS account.

      • In the Description box, enter a brief description for the credential.

    3. Click Save.

  9. In Bucket, enter a name for the Amazon S3 bucket.

  10. To use deduplication, move the Use deduplication toggle key to the right, and then from the DDB MediaAgent list, select the MediaAgent that will write the data to the DDB storage location.

  11. Click Save.
