The next step is to determine the CommServe server needed to setup the HyperScale cluster in your environment.
HyperScale X Appliance cluster can be deployment with an in-built CommServe server, or attached to an existing external CommServe server.
Answering the following questions will help to determine your CommServe server deployment:
-
Is this a brand-new Commvault setup?
-
Do you want to setup a Disaster Recovery (DR) solution for the brand-new setup?
-
Do you have an existing Commvault setup?
-
Do you want to setup a DR solution for your existing setup?
Important
If you plan to setup a HyperScale cluster with more than 6 nodes, then it is recommended to attach the HyperScale cluster to an external CommServe server, instead of deploying a built-in CommServe server, as follows:
-
If this is a brand new Commvault installation, setup an external CommServe server first. To setup an external CommServe server, see Quick Start Guide. For hardware requirements, see Hardware Specifications for the CommServe server.
-
Once the CommServe server is setup, the nodes can be attached to this pre-existing CommServe server. To attach the nodes, see Connecting to an existing CommServe server.
Use the following selection guide to determine the topology requirements for your environment.
