Subscription Usage for Database

Updated

You can view subscription usage for databases in the Database Usage Report.

Subscription usage for databases displays the peak front-end size for database data protected. The front-end size is the source data capacity before compression and deduplication.

  • If the protected database is a cloud native database or if the database is installed on a physical server or physical system for one or more days in a month, the data is counted as part of the peak front-end size for that month. The data is counted even if it is removed from a backup schedule or if backup data was deleted from the system. If the database data is not backed up in the following months, it is not counted as part of subscription usage for those months.

For example, if DB01 and DB02 (each with 1 GB capacity) are protected on the first day of the month, and DB01 is removed from the system later that month, the peak front-end size protected in the month is 2 GB. If DB01 is not backed up in the following month and DB02 is backed up, the peak front-end size protected in the month is 1 GB.

  • If SQL Server or Oracle (standalone) database data was protected on virtual machines for one or more days in the month, the VM is counted as part of the VM & Kubernetes - Advanced Subscription usage. If this VM is also protected using VM & Kubernetes Standard Subscription, the VM is counted once towards the VM & Kubernetes Advanced Subscription.

  • If SAP HANA or Oracle RAC database data was protected on virtual machines for one or more days in the month, the data is not counted as the peak front-end size for that month. Instead, the VM is counted as part of the VM & Kubernetes - Enterprise Subscription usage. If this VM is also protected using VM & Kubernetes Standard Subscription, the VM is counted once towards the VM & Kubernetes Enterprise Subscription.

The database agent installed on the VM is counted even if it is removed from a backup schedule or if backup data was deleted from the system. If the database agent on the VM is not backed up in the following months, it is not counted as part of the subscription usage for those months.

Procedure

  1. From the navigation pane, click Usage Summary.

The Usage Summary page appears, showing a summary of service subscriptions and their usage.

  2. Click Database.

    The Database usage report appears.

  3. To view information for a specific time frame, click Time frame, and then select one of the time options.

Database Usage Per Month

The Database Usage Per Month chart displays peak front-end size for database data protected. This chart updates when you select a time frame from the Time frame filter.

Monthly Usage

The Monthly Usage table displays monthly usage information for each database server. This table updates when you click a month bar in the Database Usage Per Month chart.

Optional: Configure any of the following options to filter or export the Monthly Usage data:

  • To hide columns, click the Column button , un-select the columns that you want to hide, and then click Save.

  • To export data, click the Export button , select the export file format, and then save the file to your local computer.
