Restoring Amazon Aurora MySQL Databases

You can browse and restore one or more Amazon Aurora MySQL databases.

Procedure

  1. From the Command Center navigation pane, go to Protect > Databases.

    The Overview page appears.

  2. On the Instances tab, click the instance that the database is associated with.

    The instance page appears.

  3. On the Database groups tab, for the database group that the databases are associated with, click the action button action_button, and then select Restore.

    The Backup content page appears.

  4. Select the databases to restore, and then click Restore.

    The Restore options dialog box appears.

  5. Follow the steps for the type of restore operation that you want to run:

    • In place: Restore the databases to the same server and instance:

      1. Select In place.

      2. In Number of streams, enter the number of streams to use for the restore.

      3. To stage the global objects file after the restore is complete for a Dumpbased backupset, do the following:

        1. Select the Stage global objects file check box.

        2. In the Staging path box, enter the location to stage the global objects file in.

      4. To specify pre or post commands, under Pre or Post options, do the following:

        1. In the Pre recovery command box, enter the path of the process to run before the restore.

        2. In the Post recovery command box, enter the path of the process to run after the restore.

        3. To run a post process for all restore operation attempts of a job phase, whether it is successful, interrupted, suspended, or when the job fails, select Run post restore process for all attempts.

        4. To specify the user to run the pre and post commands, move the Run as User toggle button to the right and type the user name and password.

    • Out of place, Cross instance restore: Restore the databases to a different server and/or instance:

      1. Select Out of place.

      2. For Restore type, select Cross instance restore.

      3. For Destination server, select the server to restore the databases to.

      4. For Destination instance, select the instance to restore the databases to.

      5. In Number of streams, enter the number of streams to use for the restore.

      6. To stage the global objects file after the restore is complete for a Dumpbased backupset, do the following:

        1. Select the Stage global objects file check box.

        2. In the Staging path box, enter the location to stage the global objects file in.

      7. For Select MediaAgent, to select a specific MediaAgent to perform the restore, select the MediaAgent.

      8. To specify pre or post commands, under Pre or Post options, do the following:

        1. In the Pre recovery command box, enter the path of the process to run before the restore.

        2. In the Post recovery command box, enter the path of the process to run after the restore.

        3. To run a post process for all restore operation attempts of a job phase, whether it is successful, interrupted, suspended, or when the job fails, select Run post restore process for all attempts.

        4. To specify the user to run the pre and post commands, move the Run as User toggle button to the right and type the user name and password.

    • Out of place, Restore to disk: Restore the databases to a disk:

      1. Select Out of place.

      2. For Restore type, select Restore to disk.

      3. From the Destination server list, select the server.

      4. In the Destination folder box, enter the location to restore the databases to.

      5. Select the Restore type data.

  6. Click Submit.
