You can use plan rules to ensure the protection of all content, such as servers, database groups, and hypervisors. Plan rules specify criteria, such as server group, region, solution, and tag, that the Commvault software uses to automatically associate and assign a server plan to the subclient that does not have a default or manually assigned server plan. Separate plan rules must be configured for commcell and company levels, which will be applicable for their specific clients and subclients. The MSP adminstrators can use the switcher to assist their tenants configuring the plan rules for the company.
By default, the Commvault software finds subclient that matches the plan rules, and then queues the subclient on the Waiting room page, where the assignment of the server plan to the subclient occurs. You can change the assignment method to automatic, so that, when the Commvault software finds subclient that matches the plan rules, it also automatically assigns a server plan to the subclient. If more than one plan rule applies to the subclient, the rule that appears first in order on the Rules page is used to assign a server plan to the subclient. You can assign a server plan by using a plan rule to discover subclients that do not have a server plan or a storage policy.
