Creating a SAP MaxDB Instance

Create a SAP MaxDB instance in the CommCell Console.

Procedure

1. From the CommCell Browser, expand Client Computers > client.

2. Right-click SAP for MaxDB, point to All Tasks and then click New Instance.

   The Creating New Instance dialog box appears.

3. On the General tab:

   1. In the SAP MaxDB Instance box, enter the instance name.

   2. Optional: Enter a description of the instance in the Description field.

4. To associate the instance to a schedule policy to perform backups, on the Details tab, enter the following access information:

   1. In the OS User Name box, enter the user name of the OS user.

   2. In the OS Password box, enter the password of the OS user.

   3. In the DB User Name box, enter the user name of the database user that can be used to access SAP MaxDB database.

   4. In the DB Password box, enter the password of the database user.

   5. In the DBMCLI Executable Path box, enter or select the path to the DBMCLI executable.

5. On the Storage Device tab, enter storage policy information:

   1. Select the storage policy for command line backups. On the Command Line Backup tab, select the storage policy that you want to use for command line backups from the Storage Policy used for SAP user command list.

   2. Optional: Use a separate storage policy for log backups. On the Log Storage Policy tab, select the storage policy that you want to use for archive log backups from the Log Storage Policy list.

6. Click OK to close the Creating New Instance dialog box.
